What is Thai massage ?

In Thailand to have a massage or massage someone else is not just an act of kindness in a moment of need. Thai Massage is a culture. In virtually every Thai family there is someone practicing Thai massaging professionally or as a hobby
This is one of the methods of traditional Thai medicine, which as well as promoting good health also allows people to share their positive energy with each other.
Thai massage is a way of meditation for the person giving as well as the person receiving the massage. For it to be fully effective, it is necessary for the person being massaged to reach an internal calm and trust and for the masseur to connect with their internal peace and balance, and with the pure and selfless love within their heart. When this is achieved the effect of the massage is equally harmonising, reenergising and healing for both people involved. The techniques, rhythm and atmosphere in which Thai Massage is applied create a space in which we can connect with our true self. Our senses open and we are able to perceive life more fully.
Thai Massage is one of the four main methods of traditional Thai medicine. It is based on work with 72 000 energy channels in the human body, with an emphasis on 10 of these channels called Sen Sib. It is given through pressure applied with thumbs, palms, elbows, knees, feet and through different stretching positions.
The king’s style which is the subject of study is applied with respect and politeness, which does not allow overly close contact between the masseur and their subject, but at the same time the practitioner must devote all of their energy, care and respect to the person they are massaging.
